TIMOTHY ALBRECHT
In a style critics refer to as "unforgettable, because inimitable" The Minneapolis native received two degrees from Oberlin College and an earned doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. He is a Life Member at Clare Hall, Cambridge University in England. In 2001 he authored Bach Plays by Heart: Musical Theology in Organ Chorales of Johann Sebastian Bach. Eleven volumes of Timothy Albrecht's organ compositions entitled Grace Notes, Volumes I-XI (1987-2004) are published by Augsburg Fortress Press in Minneapolis. The Luther Institute in Washington, DC awarded him the Wittenberg Award for contributions to church music. New York's American Organist review of Timothy Albrecht's compact disc performance of his own Grace Notes states: "He plays with a facility and fluency that we all strive for…a sheer pleasure, a delightful musician. Dr. Albrecht is Professor of Music and University Organist at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where he heads the graduate organ degree program. For several years, his teaching and concert schedule includes one summer month in Vienna, Austria. Performances during the 2004 late spring and summer include an Atlanta collaborate concert with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra trumpet Mark Hughes; continuo playing in the Highlands, North Carolina, Chamber Music Festival; solo recitals in Vienna, Bavaria, at the Brevard Music Center and the White Mountain Musical Arts: Bach Festival in North Conway, New Hampshire. Upcoming recital invitations include four concerts in the Ukraine, one of which is a solo organ recital in Kiev to be sponsored by the American Embassy. Timothy Albrecht performs exclusively under the Koch Templeton Concert Management. | ![]() 2005 Program Thursday Morning
